  • It is important to know techniques that can help to reduce sleep regression in babies

In this article, we will discuss the signs of sleep regression in 2 months old babies, as well as some tips to help make the experience less stressful for everyone involved. Keep reading for more information!

2 Months Old Sleep Regression: Signs

Let’s face it, sleep regression is the worst. Your baby was sleeping through the night and now all of a sudden they’re up every two hours again. It’s like déjà vu of those early newborn days. But don’t worry, there are some telltale signs that your 2 month old is going through a sleep regression.

Very Frequent Night Waking

If your baby is waking up multiple times during the night, it is likely a sign of sleep regression. This is especially true if they were sleeping through the night previously. It’s important to try and get your baby back on track as soon as possible, or else you will be exhausted in no time.

Cries More Often

Babies often cry more during a sleep regression. This is because they are fighting against their natural sleep patterns and instincts. If your baby is usually a calm and content baby, but has been crying more often lately, it’s likely because of the regression.

Trouble Falling Sleep

If your baby is having trouble falling asleep, it is also a sign of sleep regression. This can be due to the fact that they are overstimulated during the day, or because they are not getting enough daytime naps.

Increased Fussiness

If your baby is suddenly more fussy than usual, it could be a sign of sleep regression. This is because they are uncomfortable and not getting the rest they need.

Their Naps Have Become Shorter

If your baby’s naps have become shorter, it is another sign that they are experiencing sleep regression. This is because they are not getting the deep, restful sleep that they need. Try to extend their naps by 15-30 minutes, or move them to a later time in the day if possible.

They Don’t Feel Hungry

If your baby is not interested in eating, it could be a sign of sleep regression. This is because they are not getting the nutrients they need during the day, and their bodies are trying to conserve energy.

Your Baby May Resist Naps

If your baby usually takes naps easily, but is now resisting them, it could be a sign of sleep regression. This is because they are not tired enough to fall asleep, and are fighting against their natural instincts.

Tips for Dealing with Sleep Regression

Although sleep regression can be frustrating, there are some things you can do to make it easier on both you and your baby. Here are a few tips:

Try To Keep Your Baby’s Routine As Consistent As Possible

If your baby is used to a certain bedtime routine, try to stick to it as much as possible during the regression. This will help them feel more comfortable and secure, and make it easier for them to fall asleep. It may be helpful to do a bedtime routine even earlier than usual, so that they are more tired by the time it is actually bedtime.

Create A Calm And Relaxing Environment:

As we mentioned before, it’s important to create a calm and relaxing environment for your baby at bedtime. This will help them feel more secure and safe, and make it easier for them to fall asleep. It may be helpful to dim the lights, play soft music, or use a white noise machine in their room.

Make Sure They Are Getting Enough Daytime Naps

Make sure they are taking at least two naps per day, for at least an hour each. This will help them feel more rested, and make it easier for them to fall asleep at night (learn here the Ferber Method Sleep Training).

Offer Your Baby Healthy Foods And Snacks:

Make sure you are offering them healthy foods and snacks throughout the day, and try to increase their caloric intake if possible. It may be helpful to offer them their favorite foods, or give them smaller meals more frequently throughout the day.

Put Your Baby Down For Naps When They Are Drowsy

If your baby is resisting naps, try putting them down when they are drowsy but still awake. This will help them transition into sleep more easily. It will also help them to get the most out of their naps.

Use A Pacifier to Calm Them

If your baby is fussy, a pacifier can help to soothe them and calm them down. It may also help them to fall asleep more easily. It is important to make sure that the pacifier is clean, and only use it when your baby is supervised. It should also be removed before they go to bed, so that they don’t become dependent on it.

Don’t Overstimulate Them Before Bedtime

It may be tempting to play with your baby or take them out for a walk before bedtime, but this can actually make it harder for them to fall asleep. Try to keep them calm and relaxed in the hour leading up to bedtime, and avoid any stimulating activities.

Use the Dream Feed Technique

The dream feed technique is when you try to feed your baby while they are asleep. You hold them in a feeding position and stimulate their rooting reflex by stroking their mouth or offering them a breast or bottle. This is supposed to help them fall back asleep more easily. It may also help them to get the most out of their naps.

Sleep regression can be a frustrating time for both you and your baby. But by following these tips, you can make it through this tough stage a little easier.

Your 2 Month Old Child’s Sleeping Disorders Can Have A Really Bad Effect on Their Physical and Mental Health

It’s important to get your child’s sleeping disorder treated as soon as possible. Left untreated, it can have a really negative effect on their physical and mental health. If you think your child may have a sleep disorder, please talk to your doctor. It can also affect your baby’s growth and development.
