About Us

Hi, I’m Danis.

I’m a dad of two, and Newborn Stages exists because of all the questions I found myself typing into my phone at 2am, one hand on a baby who would only sleep when held.

When my first child was born, I did what every new parent does: I searched. And what I found was frustrating. Half the articles were vague reassurance with no substance. The other half were medical journals I couldn’t decode while running on four hours of sleep. Nobody would just tell me, plainly, what was normal, what wasn’t, and what to actually do about it.

So I started writing the articles I wished I could have found – and Newborn Stages was born (a little before my second child was).

What you’ll find here

Every article on this site starts with a real question parents actually ask – why does my baby grunt all night, what does that poop color mean, when will the 4-month sleep regression end – and answers it in plain language, with the reasoning behind the answer, not just the conclusion.

We cover the stages from newborn to toddler: sleep, feeding, development milestones, everyday health, and honest looks at the gear that’s actually worth your money.

How we keep it accurate

I’m a parent, not a pediatrician – and this site never pretends otherwise. That’s exactly why we hold our content to a strict sourcing standard. Every health claim on this site has to be backed by the AAP, Mayo Clinic, CDC, WHO, NHS, another national health agency or pediatric medical association, or peer-reviewed research.

One thing you should always know: nothing here is a substitute for your own pediatrician. When an article says ‘call your doctor,’ we mean it.

Why trust a parenting blog at all?

Fair question. Here’s our answer: we show our sources, we tell you when the evidence is uncertain, we update articles when guidance changes (you’ll see the ‘last updated’ date on every post), and we correct mistakes publicly. And because I’ve personally lived through two rounds of sleep regressions, blowout diapers, and first foods, we never write about parenting from a theoretical distance.
